1. What are the advantages to having a managed server?

One of many great advantages of using a managed server is that it can be customized to suit your hosting needs. You can decide which operating system you would like to have installed and choose from many different hardware specifications, from the amount of disk space and memory to the speed of the CPU. On a managed server, you can configure firewall rules and install applications which require administrative access.

As a managed server is solely for your use, you are freed from the software, CPU and bandwidth restrictions which may be imposed by a shared hosting plan. You will no longer need to worry about sharing resources with other parties.

If your website is attracting a growing amount of traffic and you find that your site's performance is slowing, you should consider moving to a managed server solution.

2. How long does it take for a Managed Server to be set up?

Servers with standard configurations are generally online within 24 to 48 hours of your order. Customized hardware and software configurations may take longer.

3. What Operating Systems do you install?

Operating Systems for servers with standard configuration include Windows, RedHat, Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian and FreeBSD. If you would like an operating system other than the ones mentioned, please let us know. Your needs can likely be accommodated.

4. Can the hardware for my server be upgraded?

In most cases, hardware such as memory and CPU's can be upgraded. Extra disks can also be added. Please contact our Sales team to determine which hardware upgrades can be applied to your server.

5. Can I obtain additional IP addresses for my server?

Additional IP addresses can be provided if there is valid technical justification for the address. Please contact Managed Support to make a request for additional IP addresses.

6. Can I have a custom reverse DNS record (PTR) for an IP on my server?

Yes. To have a custom reverse DNS record (PTR), please contact our Managed Support department.

7. How do I access the Account Manager (SiteControl) for my Account?

SiteControl allows customers to manage DNS, view billing details, submit tickets and more. The URL and login credentials for the Control Panel are sent at the time an account is opened. If you do not have a record of this information, please contact the Managed Support department.
